Enabling that mode ensures that keyboard events sent by the scanner won't interfere with UI in various ways.
To enable that mode, need to scan a special barcode(SNAPI WITHOUT IMAGING on pic below):

While Zebra scanners can be used in keyboard mode, we normally recommend switching to SNAPI mode(can also be called Zebra mode).
